Bishop Construct
So I’ve been thinking about the security systems that this ancient civilization would have put in place to contain any of the dangerous weapons and artifacts on the Pincer Continent if they were ever activated. The archaeologist that first catalogued them was a chess enthusiast, and designates each one with an appropriate name corresponding to their respective pieces based on their function and behavior. This is the Bishop, a support class that coordinates and buffs knights, rooks, and pawns. The tuning forks on their backs are how they communicate and give orders. Pawns will swarm their enemies, rooks will have a charge attack, and knights will have a pounce attack, etc. The Bishop hovers in the air, keeping its distance from foes and throws lightning spells at perceived threats. If engaged in melee combat, it uses it’s scythes to cut apart any who approach. While heavily armored, the orb used to keep it afloat can be targeted as a weak spot. Possibly an automatic critical threat? I’m not sure about the exact game mechanics yet, but I love the idea of designing creatures that require the players to think tactically and force them to get creative. Too many combats in my experience with ttrpgs boil down to: I move up to the creature and attack. Probably going to tackle the Rook next. Still have no idea what the queen is going to look like, but I’m thinking something fast and deadly.
